Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique which is used to enhance eyebrows and address imperfections such as sparse hair, or asymmetry. It can also be used to create desired eyebrow shape for both women and men. Microblading can even be performed on individuals who have lost their eyebrow hair due to specific conditions, and create a natural and beautiful appearance similar to their own eyebrows. This technique is popular among people of all ages, including young adults and seniors.
The process of microblading involves using a manual pen and a disposable blade consisting of approximately 10 to 12 fine and thin needles. The colour is implanted into the skin using this blade. The cuts made on the eyebrows are very superficial and are placed between the epidermis and dermis layers. It does not penetrate deep into the skin.
At Zara Permanent Beauty in Adelaide, we use the best organic pigments for microblading, which are well-known, lead-free, iron-free, and manufactured by tested brands that do not cause any harm to the customer’s skin. For microblading, we start by designing and shaping the eyebrows according to the individual’s facial structure. This is done using a divider tool and thread or an eyebrow mapping application. The more the shape and form of the eyebrows blend with the natural hair, the more beautiful the result will be.
After designing the eyebrows, we select the colour that suits the customer best. We consider their skin and hair colour, and take into account their input during colour selection. Using the blade, we create strokes similar to hair strands, which result in a very natural and beautiful appearance after the microblading procedure.
The microblading procedure takes approximately between 1 ½ hours to 2 hours. After the initial microblading session, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the skin to fully heal. After this period, the client needs to return to our clinic for a touch-up session.
The suitability of microblading highly depends on the individual’s skin type. Simply put, this procedure is not recommended for individuals with very oily skin as the longevity of the pigment is significantly reduced in such skins. When it is used on oily skin types, the color may spread under the skin over time, and cause the delicate and beautiful initial strokes to fade quickly typically within 8 months to 1 year. Then, it requires a touch-up to fix it. In addition, microblading is not recommended for individuals with very thin or aged skin as their skin may not have good retention.
Microblading offers several advantages and results. It creates a distinct beauty on the person’s face. It is an excellent option for individuals with sparse eyebrows, or asymmetrical brows, as well as those individuals who are dissatisfied with the shape of their eyebrows. This procedure is also suitable for those who have lost their eyebrows due to various conditions and are tired of daily makeup application and drawing their brows.
The longevity of the results varies depending on each person’s skin type and daily lifestyle, typically ranging from 1 to 3 years. For individuals who are more exposed to sunlight, sweat excessively, or have oily skin, the longevity may differ based on their skin type and lifestyle.
If you have booked a microblading appointment, you need to avoid eating or doing certain things before the procedure. Please read Cosmetic Tattoo | Prerequisites, Before-Care and After-Care Procedure for specific details or more information.
During the microblading procedure, customers usually do not experience any significant pain. The level of discomfort varies from person to person similar to plucking eyebrows. Some individuals may feel significant pain while others may not feel any pain at all. Therefore, we recommend our customers to first order a numbing gel from a pharmacy we have a contract with, as per the regulations of South Australia. They should bring the numbing gel with them on the day of the appointment so we can use it during the appointment.
Following the post-treatment determines the success of your treatment. We have included a lot of information in Cosmetic Tattoo | Prerequisites, Before-Care and After-Care Procedure, so please feel free to carefully read it.
During the first two days, the eyebrows will appear very bold and thick because the skin swells a bit. Nonetheless, the eyebrows may still appear significantly darker between the first and second day. However, this is temporary and will subside after a few hours.Immediately after microblading, the microbladed area should be cleaned every twenty minutes to half an hour with a specific wipe that only contains water and no other substances. This helps prevent the formation of scabs on the eyebrows and avoids the buildup of thick scabs that can occur through the wound. During this time, the microbladed area should not be touched with hands to prevent potential infection.
It is also essential to change the pillowcase daily during the healing period to avoid bacteria entering the wound and causing infection. It is recommended to sleep on the back to prevent any rubbing or disturbance of the treated eyebrows.
From the second to the fifth day, the eyebrows will feel very dry and may experience some itching. It is important not to scratch the skin and apply the prescribed aftercare cream twice a day, both in the morning and evening. During this period, no other products should be applied to the eyebrows, and cleaning should continue approximately twice a day.
During this time, the eyebrows will develop a flaky skin layer, but the color will still be visible beneath. It is normal for the microblading color to fade slightly during this time. It is important to resist picking at the flakes and allow them to naturally exfoliate. No makeup or sunscreens should be applied to the eyebrows until all the flakes have shed and the skin returns to its normal state.
The eyebrows will appear very soft, natural, and brighter. They will continue to lighten until around one week later. It is important to remember that the skin requires a minimum of four weeks to fully heal and recover.
5 weeks after the procedure, a touch-up may be necessary to correct areas that did not take the pigment properly or where some pigment has flaked off during the healing process.
